Kathy Fyler

Kathy Fyler’s diverse range of experiences all have one thing in common—her ability to build relationships, educate, and share her knowledge.

From her position as a Registered Nurse on Oncology, AIDS and Open Heart Units, to  Project Management for a young technology firm, to founding, owning and operating a $5 million sign and display company, Kathy led her teams to be productive, consistent, cohesive and award-winning.

As an RN for seven years, working with chronically and critically ill patients, Kathy practiced holistically, recognizing that there is more to treating the patient than just treating the illness.  Kathy also found that relationship-building was key to achieving the ultimate goal of patient wellness.  Open communication between health care providers, families, the entire hospital staff and the patient, along with education, produced the best results for everyone involved. 

As a Project Manager at a small technology firm that designed hardware and software for Computer Bedside Charting, Kathy bridged the gap between engineers and nurses. Her work designing and implementing new Software Modules, managing live Alpha and Beta testing in major hospitals throughout the US, and presenting technological information at Sales Meetings, provided a basis of computer technology skills and knowledge that Kathy continues to use today.

In 1994, Kathy teamed up with Sue Urda to start Network Display, Inc., a manufacturer of signs and displays for the point-of-purchase industry.  The company quickly became a success, with major clients including Pepsi-Cola, Krispy Kreme, Guinness, Champion, Nathan’s, and many other display companies and brokers. Having never worked in manufacturing, Kathy was challenged to oversee the operations of the company, including managing 50 employees, product design, manufacturing, shipping and receiving, and human resources. 

Working as a team, Kathy and Sue grew the company significantly, and in 2002 Network Display, Inc. was named to Inc. Magazine’s list of the 500 Fastest-Growing Private Companies.  In the same year, they won several design awards from P.O.P. Times, a display industry leader.

As the company continued to grow, Kathy and Sue felt they wanted to make a more substantial contribution to individuals and to the world. The transition was made in 2002. With the creation of an Internet Commerce website marketing health and wellness products, they strove to educate individuals on wellness and to provide inspiration. Kathy enhanced her technology skills, studying internet marketing and online commerce. She also became involved with many networking groups and a publishing company.

It was with this 10 year experience of entrepreneurship that Kathy made the decision to share her knowledge with other women who were starting, creating and growing their own businesses.  In January 2005, Kathy and Sue launched Powerful You! Inc., a company designed to assist women to live balanced and powerful lives, and to grow both professionally and personally through network meetings, workshops and building relationships. The message would be communicated through local chapters throughout the nation.

Kathy capitalizes on all of her experiences as Co-founder of the successfully growing Powerful You! Women’s Network.  

Her nursing experience has enabled her to bring a holistic approach to business--not just focusing on one aspect of a women’s life.  Instead she embraces the mind, body and spirit, realizing that it is important to the “whole woman” to maintain a balance.

Understanding the importance of relationship-building, Kathy’s knowledge has ensured that Powerful You! recognizes that building relationships is the key to building businesses and enhancing lives.

Education and the sharing of information have always been critical to Kathy.  At Powerful You! one of the main focuses is to provide information, experience and knowledge through networking, workshops and seminars. Additionally, Kathy has taken advantage of her technology skills to develop the Powerful You! website, enhance internet presence, and to assist Powerful You! members with technological challenges.

Since the company’s inception, it has grown to almost 40 Chapters throughout the country, with almost 500 members. In a nationwide effort, Powerful You! has launched the Networking with Intention™ National Tour.  This series of events will take place around the country and is designed to bring women together for growth, sharing and connections.  As a result of this effort, new Chapters are continuing to be formed, with the goal of a total of 150 chapters during the next year.

Kathy is also the Co-Creator and Producer of the Inspirational Movie, Stepping Stones.
